The Living Legend

The Living Legend Village was designed by RMA in 1991. The basic concept was that of a totally themed environment that included a large format auditorium show and pre-shows, a large restaurant, main shops and peripheral craft shops.

RMA was responsible for the complete master planning of the entire scheme and the onerous task of obtaining planning permissions (no mean feat in Jersey greenbelt). The theme was that of a typical Jersey village. The site took up nine acres of land and was located in the picturesque St Peters Valley.

The auditorium show depicted the stories and legends of Jersey and its people using large screen projection, special stage effects and surround-sound.

RMA Ltd was invited back in 1997 to design and supervise the build of a 36 hole adventure golf course adjacent to the main site where players have to navigate their balls around granite volcanoes, giant water wheels, underground caverns, waterfalls and derelict shacks in order to win.

Towards the end of 1999, RMA Ltd was again invited back to re-make the auditorium show for the year 2000.

The new show format was largely video based and included a host of stars within the production including: Samantha Janus, Brian Blessed, Tony Robinson, Roger Lloyd-Pack, Kevin Whatley and Robert Powell.

Many new stage effects were added including a full colour laser and a huge sphere that rose up from the stage upon which is projected the earth as seen from deep space. Additional theatrical lighting systems, show and animation control systems, and digital sound systems were installed bringing all the technical systems up to the latest specification.
